Who Is An Ideal Candidate For Thigh Lift Surgery?
Dr. Abizer Kapadia, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, has provided guidelines as to who can receive thigh lift surgery:
How Thigh Lift Surgery is Performed?
Thigh lift is a Day- Case procedure and is usually done under general or regional anaesthesia. Incision is made based on the area and the amount of correction needed. Inner thigh incision is placed in the groin area extending downward and towards the back of the thigh. Outer thigh incision is placed in the groin area extending towards the hip and back. Through these incisions excess skin is removed from the groin down till the knee. The incision is then close using sutures, surgical tape or stapler.
Thigh lift surgery does not remove excess fat from the thighs. If the patient has excess fat deposits, liposuction technique usually has to be applied. If the patient’s skin has good elasticity, the skin tightens itself giving newly formed contours. In case of poor elasticity, thigh lift is performed along with liposuction.
What Is The Recovery After Thigh Lift Surgery?
One can resume normal daily activities from Day 3. Strenuous activities including exercise or lifting should be avoided for 6 weeks and should be resumed only after the approval from the surgeon. It is a advisable to wear compression garment post the surgery for a few weeks to help control post-operative swelling and maintain the contours and results of the surgery.
