Gynecomastia, colloquially called male boobs or male breasts is a condition, which affects a large number of men all over the world. It is when breasts develop in a male due to a hormonal imbalance in adolescence. Although the imbalance automatically goes away, the developed breast tissue does not. This can be very embarrassing for men who feel very insecure because of this.
Since it is breast tissue that is affected by Gynecomastia, surgery is necessary to remove it. It is not fat; therefore, exercise does not burn it. A board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr Abizer Kapadia is essential for its removal.
What Is Gynecomastia?
In gynecomastia, tissues get developed around the breast. Dr. Kapadia uses the latest liposuction technologies, Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) and Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (UAL) to remove these tissues.

How Gynecomastia Surgery Is Performed?
You begin under general or local anaesthesia. After this, an incision is made so that Dr Kapadia can remove the tissue and fat. The incision is typically made on the side of the chest. This ensures that the scar stays hidden and adds to the naturalness of the results.
Through the scar, Dr Kapadia uses the latest liposuction technology, i.e. Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) and VASER, Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (UAL) to remove any excess fat.
PAL uses high-frequency vibrations to break up the fat cells. This makes suctioning easier. Meanwhile, UAL through the VASER machine, uses ultrasound waves to melt and emulsify the fat, enabling easy removal. These procedures are also minimally invasive, therefore reducing trauma and recovery time exponentially.
The breast gland is also targeted with the same techniques. PAL and UAL successfully break up the gland so that it can be removed, through a separate incision, quickly and easily. Following the procedure, depending on the excess skin remaining, excision may or may not be necessary. One of the benefits of VASER is the heat it releases. This makes the skin shrink and tighten. Additionally, if your skin is very elastic, then it automatically goes back into place after the procedure. In some cases, the areola may also need resizing for the best results.
