How To Prepare For Chin Surgery?
- During the consultation, the right method to perform the surgery is finalized and in the case of Chin Surgery, the right type of implant is decided.
- In case you smoke, you will be asked to quit for the time period prescribed by Dr. Abizer.
How Chin Surgery Is Performed?
Chin Augmentation –
- Chin Augmentation is performed by inserting an implant under the skin of the chin. It is a 45-minute procedure.
- An incision is made under the chin (submental) or inside the mouth (intraoral). Through this incision, a pocket is created for the implant to be inserted. It is then positioned properly by the surgeon.
- The incision is then closed using sutures, surgical tape, or staples.
- Chin can also be augmented temporarily for a short duration by dermal fillers. This is a non-surgical chin augmentation procedure.
Chin Reduction –
- An incision is made under the chin (submental) or inside the mouth (intraoral).
- Through this incision, the surgeon removes the excess bone from the chin.
- The incision is then closed using sutures, surgical tape, or staples.
What Are The Risks Associated With Chin Surgery?
- Chances of infection, bleeding and scarring
- Pain and swelling
- Hematoma

How Is Recovery After Chin Surgery?
- Mild swelling and discomfort might be experienced by the patients. This is temporary and diminishes in the next few days.
- You will be recommended to use an elastic bandage or compression garment to minimize the swelling and support the chin.
- Depending on the incision, the patients may be placed on a liquid diet.
